Process: Problems we faced this week

After collecting about 2 hours of raw footage for our documentary, the next step is to edit the footage on the Mac computers in the Stanley Coulter building. This is not as easy as it sounds because...

1. the MAC computers in the lab wipe their hard drive clean every night, meaning that we have to upload our 32 gbs of videos onto the computers every time we want to edit it.

2. we have to have an external hard drive that is big enough to hold 32 gbs of videos plus is also compatible to be used on both PCs and MACs as we only have PCs yet the lab only have MACs.

3. we would need 20-30 minutes of our one hour class to upload the videos which is also precious time that could be used to edit the video.

Thankfully, Qi Wei and I both have 1 tb external hard drives so we are using Qi Wei's hard drive as the main one and mine as back up! As for transferring the videos, I would just have to go to the lab early every day we have class to transfer the videos over first so that we would be able to start editing it the moment class starts.

In conclusion, we had a lot of trouble because of the computers in the lab but we have already taken steps to overcome these problems so hopefully next week we will encounter less problems and things will run smoothly! :D
