Process: Week 2

This week we did a majority of our filming. On the day of our meeting on Tuesday we got an interview in before we went into the meeting. On Sunday we met and filmed the LoL club at their meeting. We had one camera running on the meeting as it took place for a while and shifted its angles occasionally, this will give us good b roll footage, or perhaps we could use it during an introduction or during transitions. We interviewed the president and vice president of the club, along with five other club members. The interviews all went well, especially those with the president and vice president. They gave really good answers and I believe that we will be able to utilize the footage from those interviews very well in making our documentary accomplish its goal. We got information in our interviews about how the people in the community thought people from outside the community viewed them, what they did outside of the community, and why they were members of the community. We also filmed the hallways of Stewart, as well as getting some footage of Stewart from the outside for b roll and natural sound. Overall I would say I am happy with the footage we got and I feel that we will be able to use it well.

In class this week we worked with editing a bit. It was nice to see that the editing process could be so easy for a lot of things, especially cutting and fitting the video together. It will be interesting to see how difficult or easy it will be to actually make the documentary, both in that finding the right clips in two hours of footage may be difficult and in that making a final product that lasts no more than five minutes from two hours of raw footage. I am excited to work on editing the documentary, and hope that our final product will be worth watching.
